Brendan:
Darned if you don't look like me; well, a bit younger (I was born in 1944), but...
I'm kind of hoping that your Mary Ronayne-Holmes turns out to be one of mine, or I turn out to be one of yours, or however the blazes that stuff works. My wife and I make an annual trip to London (I know, I know, wrong island), and it would be real worthwile to find some relatives (however distant) in Ireland to make another trip to Cork and Waterford--I was there in 1990, looking up grave stones in Balymacoda, Clonpriest, and other garden spots. Ah, what the heck, I'm going to be coming to Ireland, probably next year in February. Maybe see you then.
Best wishes.

I have been researching the Hannigan/Hanegan line for 25 years. I know James G. Hanegan is from Cork --either by his birth or his parents (strongly suspect he was sborn there....) Haven't found the documents yet though. James was born in 1801 (December) he married a Quaker German woman in 1825. They were members of the Friends Church in Ohio/Iowa/Pennsylvania.
I have been to Cork and loved it. I was there on my birthday in September a few years ago. I have found myself lately lost in thought remembering the wonderful people and places I saw. I wish I were sitting at the bus terminal, waiting to clamor off to some village, listening to the sound of private Gaelic conversations carried on close by--and feeling so at home.

Hi Brendan
I was just 'passing' and was trawling through Waterford related sites.
I come from the Midlands (Warwickshire) and am researching my Meredith ancestors from Waterford.
Short of being over there I have hit a (temporary) brick wall with Bartholomew Meredith who was born in Waterford in 1816 and died in 1888. In 1861 he was noted as 'Keeper of the Lunatic Asylum' and I am trying to find some library or public record office in Waterford that may be able to give me some more info.......maybe you or one of your visitors will know more.
That's why I was here - for all that the site is very good and seems well visited! Congrats...

Brendan, I have just stumbled upon your very fine site and I can only marvel at the amount of information you have gathered. Would you have come across any connection with the foundation of the village of Cloyne in the early 1800's. Further south of Cloyne is a village called Erinsville which was settled in 1836 by an Irishman named John Murphy
Enjoyed your photos
From: Lorna Wilshire (wilshirl@wabash.edu) Date: Fri Apr 23 13:33:49 1999 Edward J. Sisk
I searching for information on my ggrandfather Edward J. Sisk, b 11/05/1843 ca in Cork Ireland. I found a statement which he had someone else write for him. It stated that his family left Cork Ireland in 1849 by ship and arrived in Boston. There were three children, Edward, Mary and John, their parents were Maurice and Abby. I must admit that these names are a guess because the ink is faded. Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't heard from you since April. Your last mail asked if Michael McAuliffe and Ellen O'Malley were married in Limerick County? Yes, I believe so. It was before 1863, as that was year my gmother was born. If you could find where they were married(he was from Moroe Wood) or tell me how I can find out, I would be very greatfull. Sincerely, Jerry Kleber

HI! After I received your reply to my email I decided to check out your site. My Lawton family is from East Cork but I haven't figured out where yet. Think Castlemartyr/Killeagh/Youghal area.
Is that area by you? They emigrated to the U.S. about 1850.
I have read several books now about the 1700/1800's and sometimes I almost get mad at my husband who is English.
Take care Ann wrights@atl.mediaone.net
