Wider Opportunities
As a Girl Scout, I was lucky enough to attend a number of Wider Opportunities & other events.  What is a Wider Opportuniy?  It's an event sponsored by either GSUSA or a Girl Scout council (or another country's Scouting/Guiding organization).  To attend a Wider Op, you must meet the age guidelines for that event, & go through the application process, which inclues an written application in which you talk about why you want to attend the event, & how you think you would benefit, etc., a personal interview carried out by your home council, & letters of reference from adults who know how prepared you would be to attend the  event.  Lots of girls apply for each Wider Op, but there is a limit to how many can attend each event, so it's very competitive.    Getting to attend so many was quite an honor!

I also got to attend other events, such as the 75th Anniversary celebration of Girl Scouts that was held in Washington, DC.  My council also sponsored a lot of wonderful trips that I was able to take part in.  As you can see, my Girl Scout experience was pretty amazing!

Follow the links below to read more about some of the Wider Opportunities & other events I attended.  I'll try to tell as much as I can remember, & also tell a little about what I learned on the trips, etc.  If you have any questions, drop me an e-mail!
