Llamas on crests and signs
The National Arms of Peru shows a vicuña, the national animal.
This huge
Peruvian crest
is on a hillside
near a town
in southern Peru.
The highway
cuts across below it.
Miles up on a desert hillside,
near Arica, in Northern Chile
are representations of llamas.
A detail of the two of the llamas
is shown below.
The ancients must have seen
similar scenes to this
and represented them
on their hillsides.
These llama geoglyphs
are at Pintados in Northern Chile.
They are very ancient,
and were created
by moving the rocks
from the image area.

This sign on a veterinary office in Temuco, Chile
shows that the llamas rate right up there with the chickens!
When I saw this sign I just had to stay in this hotel
in Calama in the Atacama Desert of Chile.
