These images represent a part my exploration of the timeless love scrawlings found on trees, park benches, walls, etc. By coating thin sheets of aluminum with black and white photo emulsion, I am able to contrast the smooth, reflective surface of the metal with the gnarled, rough texture of tree bark. These small images compel the viewer to come in close to examine the detail, the focus moving from surface treatment to visual content of the image itself.
