I have decided to dedicate this page to my vacation
to Yellowstone. If
you have never been to Yellowstone, then you don't
know what you are missing. It was the best vacation
that I have ever been on. My friend and I went last
month. We went left Indiana on 9/12/97 and got to
Yellowstone on 9/13/97. We drove all the way from
Indiana. It was a great drive. Wyoming is so
beautiful. We had never before seen Mountains and it
was so great. If you go to Yellowstone go thru the
East entrance. You drive right thru a mountain on
the east side. It was really neat to see all the
Mountains. We stayed at Old Faithful Lodge Cabins.
I highly recommed those cabins. We saw Old Faithful
go off Twice and alot of the other Geysers in the Old
Faithful area. If you do go walk the board walk
around Old Faithful and see all of the other Geysers
and all of the other neat stuff around there.
On one day we went to the Grand Teton National Park,
which is to the south of Yellowstone. It is so
beautful. We went to Cooke City Montana one day,
that is one neat town, it is right up in the
mountains. Then we climbed Mount washburn, do this
on a day when it is warm and not really windy. It
was really cold the day we went up. But
it is worth the walk if you can handle it. On our way back from Cooke City we ran into a traffic jam or should I say a Bison jam. Bison were crossing the road and people were stopped all along the road. This was in Hayden valley. There were at least 50 or more Bison there in Hayden Valley. After we made it thru the Bison Jam we went to Lake Lodge and checked it out. It is a nice Hotel right on the lake. Not as neat a hotel as the Old Faithful Inn though. Old Faithful Inn is an Old Log Cabin. It is really big and so Neat. I loved that building. My friend and I think that Old Faithful Inn would be the perfect Honeymoon Spot. So romantic with Old Faithful right there. If you go wait for the sun to set over the lake. It is beautiful. Also wait for the moon to come out over the lake. We met a guy at the lake that had a big zoom lens and he let us look in it and see the moon. I would love to have had a copy of his picture of the moon over the Mts. He was from California. In Yellowstone you will see and hear alot of people from other countrys. That was one of the neatest parts about Old Faithuful, sitting there and listening to all of the different languages from around the world. We hiked on the Elephant back trail one day and when you get to the top of the hill you climb on the trail there is a super view of the Lake and the Mountains in the background. That trail is about 3 miles round trip. We ate lunch one day in hayden valley and watched for animals, but all we saw in the valley was bison. After lunch that day we went to the north entrance of the park. Saw a family of Elk on the way and got some very good pictures of them. We hiked a little on the Lava Creek trail at the north end of the park. This part of the park almost looks like you are in the desert. Then after that hike we went to the west entrance and went into West Yellostone Montana to eat. Stopped at the Norris Geyser basin on the way back to the Old Faithful area. Here is a list of the animals we saw in the park:
Elk-12 or More
Bison-100'S
Moose=1(Female)
Wolf=1
Coyote-1
Red Squirrel-Lots
Mule Deer-4
Raven-Lots
Gulls-Lots
Mallards-Lots
Chipmunk-2
Hawk-1
Bald Eagle-1
Well hope you like my pictures and get something out of my visit to Yellowstone. If you have any questions about the park email me and I will try to answer your question. Go to Yellowstone it is so great. It would be the best vacation you could ever take, so go for it.
