It finally looks like all that
reading about is starting to pay off (and boy did I
read). It all sounded very confusing at first
(still does), but after much practice, I'm
gettin' it (a little). I am learning as I go,
slow & steady, one thing at a
time.
I'm old enough to vote and drink,
but not old enough to collect Social Security.
I'm a Native New Yorker (and love it) but I have
lived in a few other places up & down the East
coast. I spent enough time living in Northern
Virginia, Central West Florida and The
Massachusetts/NY border as well as West Central
NY only to realize that I am happiest and most
comforable when I reside 40 minutes from NYC and
10 minutes from the Atlantic. Ahh...The Ocean...That's where
you'll find me during the summer every chance I
get. The beach is the best place to go to relax
and have a great time. Give me a small cooler, a
comfortable lounge chair and a portable radio.
It's the next best thing to Heaven as far as I'm
concerned. Listening to the waves crashing,
hearing the sounds of content children playing in
the sand, watching people walk by looking for
treasures that wash ashore are among the things
my days at the beach consist of. I can walk
along the shore, soak up the sun, and enjoy the
breeze. Woah, I love it.
Wanna Know
More...? OK...Here's More.... I'm employed full time
doing a job that I'm really not satisfied doing.
(Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...me & the rest of the world).
The benefits are OK and the 401K is growing. I get a couple weeks vacation each year and have a good relationship with a few of the immediate people I work with, but there's something missing that makes it harder & harder to drag myself out of bed in the morning to go there.
I listen to people babble for
hours and very few things ever get resolved. The
"higher ups" use words like
"Issues", "Closure", "Comfort Zone" and
"Challenges".....Hey, why can't
people just say what's on there mind in a simple
way.... If there's a problem, just say "there's
a problem"...All of a sudden, somewhere during
the late 90's....people are discovering they now
have "Issues"(and their not talking about
magazines). Company Executives need to realize
that's it's the people below them that keep the
business going. And that's the BIG Issue.
Everyone likes a little appreciation. I'm sorry
for venting (another 90's word), but when I start
to really think about it, my head starts to shake
with confusion. Basically, I'm just not content
with my position. My talents are being wasted.
I'm a great communicator and hooked on honesty
and there seems to be so little of that left in
the corporate world. Oh well...such is this
thing called Life UPDATE 10/4/99: I left the "Corporate" world and took a job as an Office Manager. My stress level has significantly decreased. I am making more money and get recognized for my efforts. I'm treated like a Human Being instead of a number and have the benefits I need. I am comfortable with the decision I made, as the Company I work for is honest and reputable. As
long as I am giving you an "Extra Special
Glimpse" into my life, I might as well tell
you that I'm simply saying what's on my
mind...exressing myself and my opinions.
Afterall, isn't that what makes this country the
great place that it is? If you find this
offensive in any way, "Get Over It" or "Click On
Outta Here". These "opinions" are in no
particular order. I am merely voicing my
impressions of life as I see it
Narrow minded people (and you know who you are)
really embitter me. You go through life wearing
those internal blinders that keep you from seeing
what others are all about. You're quick to
condemn any person who does not think, dress or
act like you. Hey, Wake Up!
Shit Happens to EVERYONE! It's just not happening to you
TODAY. Try wearing the shoes of a Homeless
Person, a Pregnant Teenager, an Abused Child or
an Addict. Try being Unemployed, budgeting Food
Stamps, having no Medical coverage and relying on
public Transportation. Go through life with no
Credit, little money or a physical
challenge. The Narrow Minded wonder how a
person could act the way they do and are quick to
judge & point a finger. But instead of reaching
out, they turn their backs. I say... "To Hell With All of You". Things happen Everyday,
Everywhere, to Everyone and it's not anyones
fault. I have not yet met an
"Untainted" person. We are all struggling with
something. Try to take a moment to understand
where another human being (not just like you) is
coming from. Broaden your horizons just a
little. In "My World" the Benefit of the Doubt
is extended to all. Only then do I form an
opinion. Gettin into Heaven (if there is such a
place) is not about 102 different Religions
and/or Gods. It's about taking care of each
other, not judging people based on first
impressions, being a good listener, extending
youself to others, and being honest. But most
importantly...It's about "Doin' The Right
Thing". I believe all the "Gods" feel the same
way. I sleep good.
OK...Now I'm on a Roll...
What is going on with
today's youth? (not all of them, but enough to be
concerned) What's with the BIG pants? Must
they wear clothing large enough to harbor a small
ship under? Must the "designer" boxer shorts
always be showing and must they complete the look
with a pair of sneakers that can set you back a
weeks paycheck? There's nothing wrong with a
"relaxed" look, but hey, it's outta
control. The pants keep gettin Bigger Bigger Bigger. I can't help wonder
who (or what) started that look. Some of these
kids are down right scary. And it's not just
the BIG pants. There's the black makeup, the
body piercings, the ultra mini skirts and
platform shoes you could walk accross water with.
And let's not forget to mention the
multicolored hair, shaved heads, dragon lady
nails and body tattoos. I'm all for expressing
yourself, but are there no limits? It's scary
to imagine who the President will be in 20-30
years. I'm guessing it wil be a Devil
Worshiping, Gangsta Rapping, Pot Smokin product
of a Dysfuntional Family who didn't get enough
attention or Discipline as a child and as soon as
they screw up, they will blame it on TV, Movies,
Peer Pressure, Music, and of course
Society....Anyone or Anything but
themselves.
If you don't know what they are doing...find out! Meet their friends, learn their iterests. Get to know who they are and show them you care about them (words are not enough). Talk WITH them not TO them. Spend time with them. Be honest with them. Be honest with yourself. Let them learn "good" life lessons from you or they could learn "bad" life lessons from someone else. Keep them from being a "Statistic".

Well....For the most part.....that's me. Oh, I'm sure I could go on & on....but I'm saving the "Good Stuff" for my book. I suppose one of the most important thingsI left out is that 10 years ago I survived Lung cancer. It was a scary, horrible time in my life and I'm thankful I'm here to talk about it. I'm putting the "Cancer" story on another page in the hopes it will make everyone who reads it realize how important life really is and how quickly it can be taken from us.
Would ya like to see the face behind the opinions?
