Berniece Viola Grenier was born September 26, 1936 in Rollette, Rollette County, North Dakota to Adrian Francois and Wanda (McAfee) Grenier. She grew up in the flat farmland of North Dakota and in 1954 married Ernest Francis Getchell. They had 9 children.
Berniece and Ernie moved to Gillette, Wyoming following the oil rigs. They divorced in 1976 and Berniece went to work for the Amax Coal Company's Bel Aire Mine.
In 1980 she met and married Fred Jones who was also working for Amax at the Eagle Butte Mine in Gillette. In 1981 Fred and Berniece moved to Sullivan, Indiana and then in 1986 to Washington State.
Berniece retired from the Southland Corporation in 1998 and is currently relaxing and enjoying being a stay at home wife. Fred and Berniece enjoy traveling, gardening and most of all, each other and their grandchildren.
