- A.D., Anno Domini, in the year of (our) Lord.
- a.m., ante meridiem, before noon.
- p.m., post meridiem, after noon.
- cf., confer, compare.
- et al., et alii, or et alia, and other people or other things; et alibi, and elsewhere.
- vs, v., versus, against.
- c., circ., circa, circum, about. Used with dates.
- i.e., id est, that is.
- pro and con, pro et contra, for and against.
- etc., et cetera, and the rest; and so forth.
- e.g., exempli gratia, for (the sake of) example.
- no., numero, by number.
- viz., videlicet, namely, that is to say; introduces further explanation.
- d.v., or D.V., Deo volente, God willing; if God is willing.
- vox pop., vox populi, the voice of the people.
