Make Your Own Frames

Making your own frames is quite easy, just follow these instructions and you'll have one just the way you want it.

I use GifWorks for the first part of the frames since I find it much easier than Image Magick.

First find a line you think would make a nice frame and take it to GifWorks and "size" it. I sized this line to

Height="20"
Width="140"

I then transloaded it to my site then returned to GifWorks.

At the top of the page at GifWorks, you'll find a row of drop boxes. Click on the one that says "EDIT" and scroll down until you see "flip Vertical". Click on that and you will see the line flip over. This is what I used for the top of my frame.

Now transload this to your site and bring one of them back with you to GifWorks to make the sides.

Since the sides are longer than the top and bottom, you're going to have to "size" your line again.

Click on the "EDIT" drop box and then click on "size". I size my sides before rotating them.

Height="20"
Width="170"

Once they are sized, click on that "EDIT" drop box and then click on "rotate right". Transload that to your homepage and return to make the other side.

This time you're going to use "flip Horizontal".

Now you're ready to connect them. In order for the frames to be shaped like a rectangle, you must have something to put them on. You can either pick out a background you like and size that to 140x170, or use a transparent background so you'll be able use this frame with other backs in the future.

Here is the transparent background I use.

Now that you have all these lines on your site, write down the names of each and save one of them to your webtv memory by clicking on it. When that's the only thing that shows on your screen, hit your "GoTo" button and then click on "Show Last". The url of the gif will show up in that box. To save it to memory just hold down your "Cmd" key and click on "A". This will highlight what you have in the box. While still holding down your "Cmd" key, click on your "C" key. You should hear a soft click when you do this. The information that you highlighted is now in your webtv memory.

If you want to use the transparent background, click on that now. You should have a site like WTV saved on one of your "F" keys. Just click on that and it will take the background to Image Magick. This is where we finish making the frame.

Since you were viewing the transparent background when you enterd Image Magick you shouldn't see anything on the view screen. Just click at the top of the screen where you see "composite".

You will see two blank boxes at the top of the next screen. Don't worry about the top one, the second one is where you must put the url for your line. Erase the http:// they have in there and, while holding down your "Cmd" key, click on "V". This will paste whatever you have in your memory, to that box.

Under the box where you entered the url you'll see another blank box with a drop box on the right.

if you saved the bottom of your frame in your memory, click on the drop box and set it to "south". Continue down the page until you see the button that says "composite". A new screen will come up once you click on that "composite" button that shows you what your bottom frame looks like on your background.

Go to the top of the screen and click on "composite" again. The screen you just set for your bottom frame will have the url you entered saved in the second box. This is why I asked you to write down the names of all your lines. All you have to do is erase the last part of the url in there and replace it with the name of one of your other sides. When I named mine, I made them short and descriptive. I used lb for the bottom, lt for the top, le for the right side and lw for the left. The url for my bottom line looked like this:

https://members.tripod.com/care011/lb.gif

I just erased the lb and replaced it with lt in the box.

You now go down to that drop box and if you entered the url for the top, click on "north". Just repeat this with the "east"(for the right side) and "west"(for the left side) and after clicking on "output", setting it for "gif" and "single file" You will have your frame.
