What Are You REALLY Giving Up???

When I sat down and thought about
what I was actually giving up by quitting,
I came up with the following list:

Waking up coughing every morning (since I've quit, I haven't had that experience at all!
Sinus headaches - haven't had one since I've quit.

People not sitting next to me because I smoke.
Choosing the seat closest to the door in restaurants.
Trying to juggle 3 packages and an umbrella in one hand, so I can hold my cigarette and smoke using the other hand.
Waiting for the next bus or train, so I can finish my cigarette first.
Not being able to breathe through my nose half the time - I still have allergies and some remaining 'gunk' to clean out, but at least I can breathe through it now.
Smelling like an ashtray.
Feeling like a social outcast.
Having to wash the yellow stuff off my walls, windows, etc.

Observations, Hints and Pearls of Wisdom

The following are various observations,
hints and pearls of wisdom from
my personal quit experience:

Here's a little tidbit of info that may help you along with your quit - as you go longer and longer without a cigarette, not only do you feel better *physically*, but your self-esteem starts getting a real boost too. It really does feel good!
Before I quit, I really didn't think I would ever be able to do it. Once I made the decision to quit, each hour without a cigarette showed me that YES, I COULD do it, and it felt GOOD. Not just physically, but mentally as well.

There's something about realizing that I am actually DOING something that I never thought I'd ever be able to do, that REALLY makes me feel like I can do anything, and it's a GREAT feeling!
