The folks at the Big E wanted create a special night of country music. They wanted bring in two acts diverse enough to please a large number of fans, yet alike enough to fit well together. It looks like they found the perfect combination. Chely Wright and George Jones both sing traditional country and draw fan bases of both young and old.

Chely : MCA-NASHVILLE recording artist Chely Wright is out on the road promoting her latest album “Single White Female”. She sang several songs from this album including the hit single title track. She also sang the popular “She Went Out For Cigarettes” which is one her favorite songs as she says because of “it`s incredible sense of loneliness”. She also sang the very popular “It Was”.

Chely also told us that she feels that the best way to find out if a song is going be a success is to try it on the road before recording, so she sang some for us. Chely grew up in the small town of Wellsville Kansas population 1,500 and always dreamed of being a big country star, it looks like her dream is coming true.

George Jones: After Chely`s great performance the Nashville based Jones Boys took to the stage and played two songs including Alan Jackson’s hit “Don’t Rock The Juke Box”. Then the bassist / lead singer introduced the living legend George “The possum “ Jones. George started the show with “High Tech Redneck”, and then sang several songs from his current Asylum Records release “The Cold Hard Truth”, the emotional “Choices”, the title track, “The Cold Hard Truth”, and “Sinners and Saints”.

With a career spanning several decades, George has a multitude of hits to choose from when he makes up a set list. He sang songs from several of his past hit albums including “Who`s Going To Fill There Shoes”, “Picture Of Me With Out You”, and ” I Don`t Need Your Rocking Chair”.

George was very entertaining while singing” I`ll Give You Something To Drink About”, imitating a woman several time throughout the song. As mentioned before George was backed up by a wonderful band called The Jones Boys. The Jones Boys are made up of a lead singer who converts to back up singer for George and plays bass, a fiddle player who performed a very nice solo during the show, Steel guitar player, drummer, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. George also played acoustic guitar during some songs. This was a tremendous night of entertainment and the good folks at the Big E will be hard pressed to out do themselves next year, but I’m sure they will be hard at work trying to do so.
