| Yes it is true that if you want to find out what angels singing sounds like you can let heaven wait and just listen to Alison Krauss sing, but this act is far from being just a vehicle for Alison's beautiful voice. Union Station is an "all star team of bluegrass / country musicians with many credentials all of their own. Check these ultra-talented people out .
Barry Bales (bass player) has recorded with several other artists including Merle Haggard, Clint Black, and Dolly Parton. Ron Block (banjo, guitar player / lead and background vocalist) has recorded with Susan Ashton, Dolly Parton, Clint Black and many others and is working on a solo Gospel album for Rounder Records. Jerry Douglas (dobro) has recorded with a multitude of stars, has produced albums for other artists, has released several of his own solo albums, and has won numerous awards including six Grammy awards and eight Academy of Country Music awards for best instrumentalist. Dan Tyminski (acoustic guitar, lead and harmony vocals) has recorded with many other artists and has a solo album "Carry Me Across The Mountain" on Doobie Shea Records . Dan will also be the "singing" of voice of George Clooney's character in an upcoming Colin Brother's film. Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead and harmony vocals) Alison's first album was released when was only sixteen years old. She has produced albums for other artists and has many albums on her own and with Union Station. Alison also has the distinction of having been the youngest member of The Grand Ole Opry ever. Her music has been included in several television and movie soundtracks. Alison's work has been recognized by multiple Grammy award nominations and ten Grammy awards. The sold out crowd was treated to a wonderful performance. The band performed songs from their latest Rounder Records release "So Long So Wrong" as well as songs from their older and solo albums. They of course included Their hit single "When You Say Nothing At All" that is also a very popular video airing on C.M.T. and "Maybe" from Alison's latest solo album", for which they just completed work for the new video of. Alison took the time to introduce (and tell an embarrasing story about) each member of the band and then each member gave us a brief solo performance after their introduction. The show also included a mini set of two songs played on the dobro by Jerry Douglas. The crowd seemed to be almost as entertained by the beauty of the venue as the they were by the performers, even Alison commented on the beauty of the theater saying "I've got just one thing to say about this place it's woowee!!! And she also said that it "looked like a giant cake"(decorated , good enough to eat). This was a tremendous night of first rate entertainment, something this area has been starving for, for quite some time. Thanks to the folks at the Paramount Theater the wait is over.
