BENNETVILLE, CALIFORNIA

This place is located just outside out Yosemite National Park, a quick 1 mile hike from the road. Its pretty well known so you'll be pretty likely to run into other hikers. But its GORGEOUS there, a definite must if you're in the area!

There are a couple of cabins left and a mine. The cabins have been restored by the Forest Service and its possible that they lock the cabins during the winter. Chances are pretty good that when you visit they should be unlocked.

Back in the late 1800's they were trying to link a road from Lundy to Bennetville but they never finished due to the harsh winter that hit during the construction. Cat read somewhere that if you found the right canyon that the road construction crew just abandoned their equipment there and its just waiting to be explored/discovered!

We've tried two canyons so far, lets cross our fingers (paws) that we are luckier this year!

Here is a shot of inside the mine and a drill laying right there at it's entrance!
