Here are some VERY important suggestions:
The cavy's cage should be at least three times the cavy's size.
Use only pine wood shavings at the bottom of the cavy's cage.
Do no use a wire bottom cage.
Do not keep the cage in direct sunlight.
Feed the cavy only guinea pig pellets.
Change the cavy's water every day.
You should clean the cage every 2 - 3 days.
Feed the cavy a treat with a large amount of Vitamin C. I suggest oranges, apples, spinach or parsley.
Cavy's enjoy most fruits and vegetables. Wash all fruits and vegetables before feeding. "If you won't eat it, don't feed it."
Don't crowd the cavy's.
Never, never, never hit the cavy.
Handel cavy with gentel care ang kindness.
Isolate a sick cavy.
Groom the cavy.
Talk softly to your cavy.
Strict control of vermin and insects.
Give the cavy loves every day. They thrive on it.
Do a health check:
Check body for missing hair, cuts, swelling, parasites, etc.
Check ears for injury.
Check eyes for infection.
Check for runny nose.
Check teeth for overgrowth or breaks.
Check genital area for debris.
Check perineal sac for impaction.
Trim toenails.
Check feet for injury.
Groom cavy with soft brush.
Have a good cuddle and conversation.
