 Canadian China Society As a non-profit organization, our fundamental interest is to sponsor friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Canada & the People's Republic of China. You can contact us at home@canadianchinasociety.org Our activities include hospitality for Chinese scholars and students; public meetings with speakers, panels and films; social events such as banquets & outdoor picnics; quarterly publication of the CCS newsletter; cultural events; tours of China and also mentoring. There is a Chinese stamp exhibition at the lobby of Times Square, Building A, located at 550 Highway 7 East, corner of Leslie Street. This will take place from March 8 - April 4, 2006. Many thanks to Ruth Malloy and Caroline Walker for sharing the experiences of their journey last summer through Mongolia and Tibet through slides and films. The event took place on Sunday, January 8 at the Bata Shoe Museum. The annual CCS Fall Banquet returned on Thursday, September 22. Thanks to everyone who came out to this event and thanks also to the Consul General and her staff for attending. The Canadian China Society thanks everyone who attended our Summer Social BBQ om August 14. Special thanks to Veronica Yuyitung for hosting the event. Our Annual General Meeting on May 29 featured the movie "Queen of Tibet" as well as the election of the Board of Directors. Congratulations to the new Board and best wishes for the upcoming year. The Canadian China China Society celebrated its 2005 Spring Festival on Sunday, February 20. We marked the Year of the Rooster with old and new friends and our honoured guests from the Chinese Consulate. We appreciate the efforts of the volunteers who made the event a success. Thanks to everyone who attended and also helped out with our 2004 Winter Bazaar featuring a book reading by 2004 Giller Prize finalist Wayson Choy, buffet dinner, Christmas music & caroling and plenty of Christmas gift ideas...and shopping at our Bazaar. The CCS Annual Banquet took place on Wednesday, September 29 at the Century Palace Chinese Restaurant in Markham. Special thanks to the organizers and entertainers for making the event a sold-out success! The CCS held a summer barbecue and also hosted a Tibetan delegation in July 2004.
