...Come along and see for yourself when new local band "Sympathy Orchestra" make their debut performance at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel on Friday August 27th from 9pm.
Get ready for a
dynamic night of new sounds and rhythms from the 6-piece group featuring
members from Redfins, JBE, Scafell Pike,the Magellan Project, Monsoon,
360 Degrees, who have also been seen performing at various WOMAD festivals.
Original music with infectious grooves and melodies will take you
on a journey which will conjure up images of exotic cultures and world
travels.
Formed in March of this year, Sympathy Orchestra are; principal songwriter
and founder Julian Barnett,(at long last back on electric guitar
after the Redfins disbanded in 1995!), Ray Smith,(keyboards/guitar) was
founder of 90's folk/rock ensembles Scafell Pike and the Magellan
Project, Martin Boyd (keyboards) former member of Redfins, Istvan
Nemeth (bass) with John Appleby (drums) have been seen playing locally
in and around Adelaide with Chris Finnen's 360 Degrees, and Craig Lauritsen
(drums).
Mark Kraus (saxophones) another former member of Redfins, often
joins the orchestra live
Sympathy Orchestra's rhythm section consists of 2 of Adelaide's finest
drummers with Craig Lauritsen (always in demand for session work) and John
Appleby providing a backbone of enticing and innovative rhythms.
We're looking forward to seeing you at the GOV to experience the
journey of Adelaide's newest Orchestra.
