These are still worth reading...I just re-read em all myself!
I made all this up, folks...but it's still good!

October, 20 2007...

In case you weren't around during the years of 1998 and 1999, this was once a pretty happening place to discuss strength training. No one will be reading this because this site has longsince gone the way of the dodo...but out of boredom I figured I'd update the main page in case for some reason some straggler decided to come back here just to see if the site still exists...

My name is Chad Garrett. Back in 1998, I was a 63 year old man giving training advice. How old am I now? Math would tell you I'm 72 (2007)...but in reality, I'm 28! That's right, sports was all a hoax. At the time this site was being maintained, I was 19 years old. How did I end up being 63? It started with a smartass comment I made to Brooks Kubik on his old Dinosaur Training website. When I was hit with criticism from people telling me I didn't have the "experience" Brooks has, I decided to have a little fun and declare that I was 63 and had been training my whole life. Boy, did it snowball from there!

It led to this website, which was host to tons of great training discussion. For the record, I actually did believe in everything I was telling people in regards to how one should strength train, and I actually was actively involved in strength training at the time ....but once the 63-year-old-man train got rolling, I just couldn't stop it. I can't tell you how many people used to email me and ask for training advice. Felt awkward at first, but it was pretty fun. Anyway, it was all in good fun, and I met a lot of cool people like Brooks Kubik, Jay Trigg, JV Askem, and I had a lot of great conversations about training and such in that lone year this site was active.

Why am I even updating this site, considering that odds are that no one who ever came here will see this? Again, mostly boredom....I'm off work today, and I had some time to spare. But also because when I looked at my site today for the first time in years, and I began to look at my old "An Interesting Thought" stuff, I began to wonder how many people who used to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about in regards to training are even still training. Or better yet, how many of em are any stronger now than they were 10 years ago? My guess would be not too many.

For all of you who ever came here who may by chance read this someday, thanks for playing along, falling for it- whatever you wanna call it. It was a good year!

The REAL Chad Garrett

Oh, by the way....believing a 63 year old man can squat and deadlift over 600 lbs? How did I ever get away with that?! What's the matter with you people? :)
