The Best Fishing is in the morning!

The best time to fish for Fluke is in morning as the sun is rising, or early in the evening, but only if the tide is right.(2 hours before or after high tide.)

The first thing you need to decide is what you will be fishing for, and how you're going to fish for it. Today we'll be surfcasting for Fluke, which means we'll need at least an 8 foot rod, a 3 oz. weight, and Fluke hooks.
You also have to decide what type of bait you're going to use. The choices are: squid, live killies, sand eels (alive or dead), cut bunker or artificial lures. We decide to use squid strips, prepared by Cap'n. Larry himself. The reason you use squid is that you can buy it already cleaned and cut, just the way the Fluke like it, at your local supermarket. Also if you don't use it all you can fry it up for calamari and enjoy a nice chianti with it. But remember to keep it on ice in the cooler or it will rot!

We also need to find a good spot to fish from. Since we arrived before sunrise,we can take any spot they want. This will be done scientifically. First we consult the Solunar Chart. Today it says the best time to fish is at 1P.M.. Since it is now 6:30A.M. the Solunar Chart is useless for our purposes, so we'll have to rely on our many years of fishing experience to find the best possible spot

Striper Bill says that high tide is at 10 A.M. which means we're a little early. But logic tells us that the Fluke are hungry now. You see even fish have to eat a healthy breakfast. We notice a Flock of Seagulls heading toward the jetty to their left. There are also lots of tiny baitfish breaking the surface of the water in that same jetty. This leads us to the conclusion that if there are Fluke in the area, this is where they'll be. So now we know where to fish and what kind of bait they're going to use(squid).

There's one other thing that should be mentioned, and that is knots. I likes to use a Bimini Knot to fasten my hook to the line. I think the Bimini is easy to tie and also retains 95% of the fishing lines strength. This is very important when fishing for trophy size Fluke.
