*Crown Books crownbooks.com was under construction. Four in South Bay. "Still the cheapest bookstore in town." Maybe, but their bargain books are overpriced.

borders.com . . Borders Books, several. The one at 3700 Torrance Blvd, east of Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance, has several of the free papers I mention in the newspaper section. Lots of books, and the best selection and prices for new, bargain cookbooks. 5/21/99 - Got five new, interesting cookbooks for $19.95 plus tax. Retail prices total $67.80 PLUS 4.99 English pounds, whatever that is, what a deal.

The Cook's Library, 8373 W. Third St, Los Angeles. Large selection of new and used? cookbooks and did have used-book sales on the sidewalk once or more a year. Check with them for details.
