1. What makes Melinda number 1 can make her too much. On the plus side, she responds to every question and topic in detail and can walk anyone through any culinary challenge. On the negative side, if you're not interested in that topic, it can be a bit much. But I love her and listen when I can. Melinda says she has recipes on the BristolFarms.com site, but it may not work. Check Bristol Farms site from Favorites. She moved from KRLA to KFI about mid 1999.
Sat 3-6 p.m. & Sun, 2-5 p.m., Cooking with Melinda Lee "Food Talk" foodradio@aol.com
640 KFI AM BristolFarms.com has stuff. May also be on around holidays.

2. Evan's show usually starts with a report from a farmers' market or a report on what's in season. The rest of the show is interviews with several people in the food, cooking, restaurant, and related businesses. The value of each show just depends on the specific guests.

Sat, 11-noon, Food with Evan Kleiman, "Good Food"
89.9 KCRW FM

9/99 - Looks like he's off the air. See one of the old flashs.
3. Chef Piero - you'll either love him or misunderstand him. I've been listening for years, and I've heard about his wife, daughters, restaurant, food products, garden, life story, and the people who regularly call his show. It's almost more like a family gathering, rather than a cooking show. He was on TV and KIEV for years.
Last on Sun, 10-12:30 p.m., Cooking with Chef Piero (ends at noon, 12:30 p.m., or 1 p.m.)
1110 KRLA AM, "Chef Piero Food and Wine Show"

Honorable Mention. One goes to Jackie Olden who has done good cooking shows in L.A. for years, but isn't available in L.A. today. [3/12/99 - Just got an email from Jackie Olden saying she is still on KGAM 1450 AM, Mon-Fri, from 2-4 p.m. If anyone can hear her cooking show and post up-to-date verifications for the show, I might list it again. Go to the message board from the MENU page.]

Two go the Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger at the Border Grill who started "Good Food" on a Friday afternoon, moved it to Saturday, and then moved on to TV. 1/2000 - have returned monthly to KPPC, see Wed.

GONE.

Jayne, herself, her laugh, her short recipes, and her reluctance to accept phone calls all put her in last place. But, on the positive side, she has become just a little less annoying over the last six months. Last show was 3/21/99.
