STAR TRAILS
It is simple to take star trail photos. Just get a camera that can do
long exposure (without draining the batteries), a tripod and fast film.
Set your camera pointed at a particular place in the sky, open the
shutter for at least 15mins, and ....drum rolls, please.....

I lied. This is not an exposure of 15mins or even 30mins but this is an
exposure of an hour. I used a 200ASA film and a 28mm lens. It was taken
on 11th December 1999. On that night, the Moon was around 3 day old and
does not  set until  2 hours after the sunset. While waiting for the sky to
get dark, I took this shot. The moonlight illuminated the snow on the ground
and the bright sky behind the trees are cause by light pollution from the
city of Reno, Nevada which is 50miles east of Blue Canyon.

Here's another shot. This time, I pointed the camera toward Polaris, the North Star.
Since it is located close to true north, it doesn't appear to move. This is a 1hr 15mins
shot with 28mm lens. Taken on Kodak 800ASA film on 9th Oct 1999.
