The Dean Shuffle is a variation of the Deweyville Shuffle that was sent to me by Coach Mike Dean of Plymouth, Minnesota. I will use the description of the offense exactly as Coach Dean sent it to me.

Diagram 95: Start the play with 5 and 2 in the low post and 4 in the high post (elbow) same side as 5. 3 at the wing on the same side. 1 is at the top of the key.

First shuffle: 2 breaks up from the low post to the wing and recieves a pass from 1. 3 cuts to the lane from the opposite wing and brushes off their defender on 4. If open, 2 passes to 3 in the lane.

3 shoots a jumper or drives to the basket for a layup.

Option: If player guarding 5 steps in to stop 3, 3 should dish off to 5 for a jumper off the glass or a layup.

If no pass is possible, 3 will continue down the strong side (ball side) low post.

Diagram 96: Second shuffle: As 3 is clearing 4, and going into the lane, 1 will screen down for 4. Screen should be on the lane side and finish with a roll and box out for a rebound. 4 will cut to the lane off of 1's screen. If open 2 passes to 4 in the lane.

4 shoots a jumper or drives to the basket for a layup.

Option: If player guarding 5 or 3 steps in to stop 4, 4 should dish to 5 or 3 for a jumper off the glass or a layup.

If no pass is possible, 4 will move to the top of the key and become the point.

Diagram 97: Third shuffle: If still no pass 1 will screen down for 5 at the low post. Screen should be on the lane side and end with a roll and box out for a rebound. 5 will cut to the lane off of 1's screen. If open 2 passes to 5 in the lane.

5 shoots a jumper or drives to the basket for a layup.

Option: If player guarding 3 steps in to stop 5, 5 should dish to 3 for a jumper off the glass or a layup.

If no pass is possible, 5 will move to the strong side elbow. And 1 will take the low post on the weak side.
