"FIVE/ONE" MATCH-UP DEFENSE REBOUNDING DRILLS

1 ON 1 BLOCK OUT THE SHOOTER DRILL: (Diagram 80)
1 rolls the ball to 4 and follows the ball. 4 will pick up the ball and shoot it and then go for the offensive rebound. 1 will block out 4. Vary the starting positions.

1 ON 1 BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 81)
The coach will shoot the ball. 1 is in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot 2 will go for the offensive rebound. 1 will block out 2. Vary starting positions.

2 ON 2 BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 82)
The coach will shoot the ball. A and B are in proper defensive position guarding 1 and 2. When the ball is shot 1 and 2 go for the offensive rebound. A and B block out 1 and 2. Vary starting positions.

3 ON 3 BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 83)
The coach will shoot the ball. B, D and E are in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot 2, 3 and 4 go for the offensive rebound and B, D and E block them out. Vary starting positions.

1 ON 1 HELPSIDE BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 84)
The coach will shoot the ball. 2 is located on the helpside and A is in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot 2 will go for the offensive rebound and A will block him out. Vary starting positions.

2 ON 2 HELPSIDE BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 85)
The coach will shoot the ball. 1 and 2 are located on the helpside. A and B are in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot 1 and 2 will go for the offensive rebound and A and B will block them out. Vary starting position.

4 on 4 BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 86)
The coach will shoot the ball. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are spaced out on the perimeter. A, B, D and F are in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot 1, 2, 3 and 4 will go for the offensive rebound. A, B, D and F will block them out.

5 ON 5 BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 86)
The coach will shoot the ball. The offensive players are spaced out on the court with the defensive players in proper defensive position. When the ball is shot all the offensive players go for the rebound. The defensive players will block out the offensive players. Vary starting positions.

2 ON 2 RED AND WHITE BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 87)
The squad is divided into two teams (red & white / reversable jerseys). The red team is on defense and starts under the basket. The white team is on offense and starts outside the three point line. Each team forms two lines. The red team will roll the ball to a white player as both reds move out to guard the first two whites in line. They now play two on two. When the ball is shot the white will go for the offensive rebound and the red will block them out. The team that gains possession of the ball after the shot is the winner. Winners go to the end of the red line and losers go to the end of the white line. The drill is ran for five minutes. At the end of five minutes all players in the white (losing) line will run a line drill.

1 ON 3 SCATTER BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 88)
The players are positioned on the court as shown. 1, 2 and 3 are potential shooters. A is on defense. The coach (under the basket and behind 4) will pass the ball to one of the three potential shooters; who will shoot the ball and then go for the rebound. A must attack the player receiving the pass, defend the shooter and block out.

2 ON 4 SCATTER BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 89)
The players are positioned on the court as shown. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are potential rebounders. A and B are defensive players. The coach is under the basket and behind A and B. The coach will pass the ball to one of the potential rebounders, who will shoot it and go for the rebound. At the same time he passes the ball the coach will call out the name of one of the remaining potential rebounders, this player will go for the rebound. A, standing under the basket will block out the shooter. B,standing to the left of A, will block out the player whose name was called

3 ON 3 SCATTER BLOCK OUT DRILL: (Diagram 90)
The players are positioned on the court as shown. 1, 2 and 3 are offensive players. A, B and E are defensive players. The coach, located under the basket and behind the defensive players, will pass the ball to one of the offensive players, who will shoot it and go for the rebound. As the coach passes the ball, he will also call the name of one of the two reamining offensive players. A, standing under the basket, will block out the shooter. B, standing to the left of A, will block out the player whose name is called. E will pick up the remaining offensive player and block him out.
