As you may have guessed, if you've visited my Crow Cottage web site, I am a born-again Yorkshire-woman! My paternal ancestors came from Yorkshire to America in 1634. I have discovered a profound love for Yorkshire, her people, her birds and animals and her land. There are innumerable places there that take your breath away in that lovely corner of the Earth.
One of the things I've loved the most about Yorkshire is her trees. They are spectacular, majestic, ancient, and very photogenic! There are hundreds of miles of hedgerows, most made up of Hawthorn, which traverse the moors and dales of Yorkshire. It is in the spirit of my love of trees that I offer this page to you.

Yorkshire is home to spectacular scenery and part of that scenery includes her trees and wildlife. There are wide open expanses, as far as the eye can see, on the tops of the moors, which have given Paul and me so many hours of enjoyment.
We have spent many hours, over many miles, driving the Yorkshire roads and byways, admiring nature's wonders and stopping a time or two for a grazing sheep on a lonely narrow moorland road where we are but interlopers in their world. We've pulled over to the side of the road and had picnics with only the company of several sheep and their darling young lambs. Nothing could be more enjoyable than this.
If you are interested in donating a small amount of money to a worthy cause, please consider supporting the planting of a tree, or two, with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust - our Earth can use all the trees she can get, and future visitors to the Yorkshire Dales will be all the happier for it!
