The task of a military sniper is to combat and neutralize highly important, specific pinpoint targets.  Snipers are no longer limited to live targets, the sniper's task includes more and more combating of very important technical facilities such as generators, radar directing centers, radio direction-finding stations, electronic installations, and other similar objects.  They must also collect information for their intelligence officer.  Snipers have the capability to destroy or disable any enemy targets with their .50 caliber rifles.  They wear ghilley suits, such as in the picture to the left, which offers excellent concealment and can keep a sniper hidden from hostile forces only a few feet away, however they are normally hundreds of yards away from their targets.  They support infantry and assaults with their extremely accurate fire capabilities.  To aid them, snipers also carry MP5's and/or 9 mm hand guns for close quarters combat.  However, if they are forced to use these weapons, the mission has failed or their position has been compromised and they are struggling to reach the evacuation point.
