A Note From the Current Club President: The club offers free membership to Concordia University students and alumni. We will not turn away non-student/alumni perspective members, the more the merrier. However, any non-Concordia affiliated person may not be included on the key list nor be unaccompanied in the club.

The club has a large assortment of board games, card games, role playing games, etc.

The club also has a PHONE!

Note: The Club President's opinion is not necessarily that of all members of the club. The Concordia Games Club is, and always will be about keeping the gaming mediums alive, and having fun.

Article 1: Association Name

The name of this organization is the "Concordia Fantasy and Simulations Games Association," hereafter, the "Association," or my its acronym "C.F.S.G.A." (formerly known as the Concordia Games Club.)

Article 2: Association Objectives

1. Our objective is to provide Concordia students with a local institution that conducts recreational gaming activities (i.e., chess, wargames, role-playing games, ect.)
2. To provide the various representatives to CUSA and other bodies as required and authorized by CUSA.
3. To offer recreational and social events (i.e., tournaments, exhibitions, ect.)

Article 3: Regular Membership

Any student who is a CUSA fee-paying member, may become a Regular Member by signing the membership list. Regular Members remain such so long as they are considered active members, as defined by Internal Regulations.

Article 4: Associate Membership

A member of the Concordia community who is not a CUSA fee-paying member may become an Associate Member, subject to the policies permitted by Internal Regulation.

Article 5: Honourary Membership

A person, contributing to C.F.S.G.A. activities, may be awarded an Honourary Membership as outlined in Internal Regulations. Thus, permitting automatic speaking rights.

Article 6: Rights, Duties, and Privileges

1. Regular Associate, and Honourary Members may attend and participate in all general meetings, as guaranteed by Robert's Rules of Order. However, only Regular Members are entitled to vote at such meetings and in elections.
2. Regular and Associate Members have the right to examine all records of this Association and may request and receive a copy of this Constitution and any other official documents of this Association.
3. Any Regular Member has the right to be a candidate for, and be elected to any office of this Association.
4. Any member is entitled to exercise his/her rights as guaranteed by CUSA and may claim such before the Judicial Board.
5. Each member has the responsibility to abide by this Constitution.
6. Regular and Associate Members must abide by Internal Regulations.

Article 7: Speaking Rights and Membership Fees

1. Speaking rights are automatic for all members as permitted by Internal Regulations.
2. Membership fees may not be assessed to any member.

Article 8: Composition of the Executive

As the governing body of the Association between General Meetings, the Executive is guided by the President but is responsible to the general membership. This Executive consists of:
a) the President
b) the Vice-President
c) the Secretary
d) the Treasurer
e) the Agenda Officer

Article 9: Duties of the President

1. Presiding at all meetings and upholding this Constitution.
2. Serving as principal spokesperson to CUSA, including the appointment and/or recruiting of members to perform required functions or representations.
3. Assuring that Executive elections will be held in accordance with this Constitution and with CUSA electoral regulations.
4. The President's term of office is normally one year from the date of his/her taking office or until her/she resigns or is replaced, whichever comes earlier. This term may extend beyond twelve months, but never beyond eighteen months, without an election but only to meet the requirements of this Constitution or of CUSA. In such unusual cases, the Judicial Board must be notified.

Article 10: Duties of the Vice-President

1. Represents the President in the latter's absence and in case of vacancy, assumes the Presidency for the remainder of the mandate.
2. To assist the President with his duties.
3. Normal term of office is one year or until the next election, whichever comes earlier.

Article 11: Duties of the Secretary

1. Those duties normal to the office of Secretary.
2. Must be prepared to provide members with copies of this Constitution and other official documents.
3. Normal term of office is one year or until the next election, whichever comes earlier.

Article 12: Duties of the Treasurer

1. Responsible for all financial transactions subject to CUSA financial policies.
2. Orderly maintenance of financial records.
3. Normal term of office is one year or until the next election, whichever comes earlier.

Article 13: Duties of the Agenda Officer

1. Scheduling of various C.F.S.G.A. activities.
2. Reserving extra accommodations for C.F.S.G.A. activities, if required.
3. Normal term of office is one year or until the next election, whichever comes earlier.

Article 14: Elections

1. All elections must be conducted according to Electoral Regulations assigned by the Judicial Board. There must be at least one election per year for each executive office. No person may hold more than one executive position at a time, on a regular basis.
2. Voting must always be by secret ballot. Minimum quorum for elections is 20% of active membership. Only Regular Members on the Active list may be candidates.
3. All Officers must be Regular Members.

Article 15: Replacement of the President

In the event of presidential vacancy, the Vice-President assumes the regular office of President and completes that term until the next election. In such case, the office of Vice-President becomes vacant.

Article 16: Replacement of other Executive Officers

In case of vacancy for other executive officers, replacement may be recruited by the Executive, by a General Meeting, or through a by-election of the general membership.

Article 17: Impeachment

An Executive may be removed from office for violation of the Constitution, Internal Regulations or serious neglect of duties. In the event of such charges, the following must be observed:
1. A Petition of Impeachment against the President, stating the charges, must be signed by at least four Regular Members and be presented to the Judicial Board who will decide whether to sustain or deny the petition. If denied the President remains in office. If sustained, the presidency is considered vacant.
2. A Petition of Impeachment against any other Officer, must be signed by at least three Regular Members, must state the charges, and be presented to the President who must call a Special General Meeting to consider the Petition. A two-thirds vote of members present may impeach the accused officer, thus vacating that office. Otherwise the officer remains in office.
3. In all cases of impeachment, the Judicial Board must be informed.

Article 18: General Meetings

1. A General Meeting is the final governing body of the Association. Reasonable attempts must be made to invite each member to attend. Decisions of a General Meeting are binding on the Association.
2. There must be at least one General Meeting per year but never during June, July, or August.
3. Proper notice of General Meetings must be given at least six school days in advance and must clearly indicate time, date, and place of meeting.
4. Quorum for a General Meeting is a total of five voting members, of which at least three are Regular Members.
5. A normal General Meeting may be called by any officer of the Executive or by a previous General Meeting.
6. A Special General Meeting to discuss specific issues may be called by any Officer of the Executive or by three Regular Members.
7. Executive meetings will be held as per Internal Regulations.

Article 19: Orderly Procedures

The rules contained in "Robert's Rules of Order" shall govern this Association whenever applicable and when they do not conflict with this Constitution, Internal Regulations, or CUSA policy.

Article 20: Internal Regulations

1. Internal Regulations are "in house" policies ranking below this Constitution, but above all other motions and resolutions within this Association.
2. Internal Regulations may be adopted or amended by a simple majority of members present during a General Meeting.
3. Internal Regulations must not be inconsistent with nor conflict with this Constitution, CUSA by-laws, and Policy of Concordia University.

Article 21: Discrimination

This organization shall not unjustly discriminate against any person according to race, colour, age, sex, sexual orientation, or creed nor violate the Canadian or Quebec Charters of Human Rights.

Article 22: Constitutions Amendment and Interpretation

1. This Constitution may be amended by: a) a two-thirds vote of members present during a General Meeting, or
b) a simple majority of members present during a Special General Meeting called for this purpose provided at least fifteen days proper notice has been given, or
c) a simple majority of members voting in a referendum.
2. All amendments are subject to approval by the Judicial Board.
3. If a General Meeting cannot settle a dispute over a Constitutional interpretation, then the question must be referred to the Judicial Board.
4. In the event of any conflict between this Constitution and the CUSA By-Laws, then the CUSA By-Laws take precedence.
