Surd is paralyzed from the neck down, but he enters into "Quest World" and that is how he causes trouble and damage.
Jonny has to go into Quest World to combat the evil Surd, who is determined to destroy Jonny and Race Bannon, and all the good they stand for. Surd thinks and blames Race Bannon for his paralysis, because he was shot in the neck by one of Race's friends, even though Race told him not to!
