Story of My Boyhood and Youth (John Muir). Just what the title says--the tale of how John Muir found nature as a young boy in Scotland and America and became one of America's greatest conservationists. 4 stars.

A Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf (John Muir). A continuation of Muir's journey. 4 stars.

My First Summer in the Sierra (John Muir). Noticing a pattern here? Muir's breathtaking first view of the "range of light" trancends the gap of a century and half to bring the reader to one of the most beautiful places in the world. 4 stars.

Ishmael (Daniel Quinn). A book which teaches a new and valuable lesson about our culture and breaks the stereotypes that we have been taught since birth. 4 stars.

My Ishmael (Daniel Quinn). Another tale of the teacher in Ishmael, this time from the perspective of a 12-year-old girl, gives the reader a new understanding of the lessons and values from Ishmael. 4 stars.

The Story of B (Daniel Quinn). The third book in the triumverate, this story adds yet another layer of beauty to the teachings begun in Ishmael. 4 stars.

O Pioneers (Willa Cather). The story of a young pioneer woman and her fight to tame the land and the people around her. 3 1/2 stars

The Maine Woods (Henry David Thoreau). Tales of ascending Mt. Ktdaan, roving through the woods, and other travels in Maine. 3 1/2 stars.
