East Fife's results from Season 1923/24: |
This was the season when the (short lived) Scottish Third Division came into being. As a result East Fife were faced with the possibility of relegation for the first time in their history. Lochgelly United, Fife's fifth league side, were also threatened with the dreaded drop for the first time and tragically finished bottom of the table. Lochgelly never really recovered from the financial difficulties which Division Three football brought them and when the Third Division was disbanded two years later Lochgelly dropped out of the Scottish League. After a couple of seasons in the minor leagues the club folded - a fate which East Fife could well have suffered but for a reasonably good finish to season 1923/24! |
