East Fife's first meeting with Clyde was on 8 November 1924, when Clyde visited Methil for a Division Two match and returned west with both points after a 3-0 win. In the return match at Shawfield later that same season, East Fife took full league points with a 2-1 victory to record their first win over the 'Bully Wee'.
Both sides were, in later years, to win honours at their opponents stadiums. On Sunday 25 April 1982 Clyde secured the Second Division Championship at Bayview with a 1-1 draw and, on Saturday 13 April 1996, East Fife won promotion to the First Division with 2-2 draw at Broadwood.
