East Fife v Livingston: Head to Head Analysis
Livingston claim to have been formed in 1974 as Meadowbank Thistle, so for analysis purposes all matches played between East Fife and Meadowbank Thistle have been included in the tables below. In actual fact, Meadowbank Thistle were originally known as Ferranti Thistle and only changed their name in 1974 when they were admitted to the Scottish League, so Livingston can claim to be even older! The only East Fife v Ferranti Thistle matches took place when the Fifers entered their reserve side into the East Of Scotland League in the late 1950's and mid 1960's. The figures in brackets refer to matches played as Meadowbank Thistle.

At the beginning of season 1974/75, East of Scotland League side Ferranti Thistle were re-named Meadowbank Thistle and admitted to the Scottish League, where they took up their place in Division Two alongside newly relegated East Fife. The league newcomers, who had moved from City Park in Ferry Road to the Commonwealth Stadium, had a pretty rough time of it as they tried to settle in to their new surroundings. Of the few wins the new club managed to record during that first season, one of the first was a 2-1 success over East Fife at the Commonwealth Stadium on 22 November 1974. The Fifers gained revenge with a 4-1 victory in the return match on 29 March. One other match of note during those early encounters was East Fife's 2-0 defeat at the Commonwealth Stadium on 24 August 1979 which saw Steve Kirk make his debut as a second half substitute.
At the start of season 1995/96, Meadowbank Thistle changed their name to Livingston (although they continued to play at the Commonwealth Stadium until their new stadium in Livingston was ready) and the club has never looked back. East Fife have recorded only one win against the re-named club: a 2-0 Second Division victory at Bayview on 31 January 1998. Finally, one other encounter between East Fife and Livingston simply cannot go unmentioned. The last match ever played at Bayview Park before the Fifers moved to their new home at Bayview Stadium was a Division Two encounter against Livvy on 31 October 1998, when the visitors won 3-2.
