Craig's Elbow Room

My name is Craig Powers and I reside in Western Massachusetts, U.S.A. We are About 5 miles from the Connecticut river. You can see where we are by clicking on this link ------>Our Ranch

Along with my wife Bonnie we have 3 grown children with us presently. They are Rick, Bill and Jennifer. We also have our dog Mitzi. She is a Shi-tzu and is 14 years old. We also adopted another Shi-tzu puppy named Kady. She is a really playful pup.  1- tabby named Mojo who is a double for "Morris the cat" and 1 Calico named Garsha. And another new addition.. Portia. She's fearless :-) I *didn't* name the cats. Don't EVEN ask me what their names mean. My daughter named them all and I still haven't a clue to WHY those names :-)

I am an early retired locksmith/dispatcher and now work part time driving *handicapped wheelchair bound persons to and from learning programs. It gets me out of the house and I love helping those less fortunate than myself.

I am also an ex Navy man. As a Sonar man/Tech. I was commonly referred to as a "ping jockey" and was stationed aboard a tin can (Destroyer) named the USS Abbot (DD-629). A picture of The Abbot can also be viewed below between the 2 flag lines. Sadly enough the Abbot is no longer around. She's Either in mothballs, converted to scrap or given to another country.

I enjoy e-mail and have been on line for about 3 years thanks much in part to my good friend Ed. We both served on the Abbot together in the late 50's. Somehow we lost contact. He (thank goodness) found me in a phone directory CD-ROM program he had, called me and we got together again. Ed keeps me smiling and my wife and I visit Ed and his wife Emily in Maine 2-3 times a year. After first demonstrating computing to me on my first visit to Maine where he lives. I got HOOKED!! :-) He got me signed on to AOL, The first year and a half I stayed with Mr. Case and company and helped form a group of e-mail fanatics commonly referred to as "Unique Friends". It remains alive and well today although I'm not active anymore in the front office :-) I liked AOL but their service deteriorated quickly with their growth so I left to try a different provider. I did make and keep many friends on AOL, most of which I am still in contact with thanks to the wonder of e-mail.

Then came Netcom which was ahhh... ok but I hated to make long distance telephone calls for tech support which I needed frequently :-)

I then tried AT&T and I liked them as they are customer service oriented. But....I wanted more speed! I tried yet another... the-spa.com (Springfield public access) but I went back to  AT&T until cable came along. and now I have broadband and this is where I might just stay. Being able to download games at at least a 1000 times faster than my old AOL is awesome :-)
