BOOKS:

THE MISTS OF AVALON

by Marion Zimmer Bradley
This book is at or near the top of my list.
Merlin is one of my heroes.

84 CHARRING CROSS ROAD

Lillian Beckwith's two trilogies:

THE HILLS IS LONELY
THE SEA FOR BREAKFAST
THE LOUD HALO

A ROPE IN CASE
LIGHTLY POACHED
BEAUTIFUL JUST!

These stories, set in the Scottish Hebrides, are real gems and highly recommended. I feel as though I've been to the Hebrides for an extended holiday. Beckwith writes so that you feel you are part of the story.

Susan Allen Toth's wonderful books on England:

MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH ENGLAND
ENGLAND AS YOU LIKE IT
ENGLAND FOR ALL SEASONS

Wilkie Collins':
THE MOONSTONE
THE WOMAN IN WHITE

On a more spiritual note

Neal Donald Walsch's:
CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD
Books 1,2 & 3
All wonderfully illuminating and thought-provoking. My perspective on life was altered dramatically after reading these treasures.

Celtic and classical music fills Crow Cottage daily.

Andrea Bocelli's:

VIAGGIO ITALIANO
ARIA - THE OPERA ALBUM
SOGNO

David Huntsinger

ALONG THE SHORE OF ACADIA
Superb instrumental CD by Tim Janis

MOVIES:

Most commercial movies are, in my opinion, of little intellectual or spiritual value, but there are a few gems out there including:
THE ENCHANTED APRIL
THE SECRET OF ROAN INISH
BRASSED OFF
(A Yorkshire movie - A#1 of course!)
MRS. BROWN
(Dame Judy Dench at her best!)

LIFE IS SWEET
(This is one priceless movie!)

LOVE WITH A PERFECT STRANGER
(This movie was one of the best love stories I've ever seen, starring Marilu Henner and Daniel Massey.
84 CHARRING CROSS ROAD
(If you have read this book OR have seen the movie, and if you know ME, you'll understand why this one is on this list!)
WAKING NED DEVINE
Set on the Isle of Man, this one is a corker and worth every penny!

And last, but not least

THE MAN WITH A PLAN
(Spread Fred!)

FAVOURITE PLACES:

Our favourite places in this old world include a bench near a church, high on a hill, at the top of 199 steps, overlooking the magnificent harbour of WHITBY in N.Yorkshire, England, which is the very spot from which Bram Stoker was inspired to write his DRACULA.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another special place is at the top of
MALHAM COVE
reached by climbing 499 steps up a limestone cliff for a view beyond description overlooking the splendid
YORKSHIRE DALES.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The remote North Yorkshire Moors as seen from aboard the
NORTH YORK MOORS RAILWAY
is a magical journey which Paul and I have taken many times, and a ride aboard the

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SETTLE-TO-CARLISLE RAILWAY
is a must-do when visiting the Yorkshire Dales.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

THE LAKE DISTRICT of Cumbria is breathtaking,and a gentle ride down
LAKE WINDERMERE
is bliss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And what would a visit to Yorkshire be without a shopping spree at the lively Saturday market of
RICHMOND
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A visit to the
YORKSHIRE DALES
wouldn't be complete without a drive through the water-splash near
LANGTHWAITE IN THE DALES
~ for all you
