Howard Marlin
EDINBERG-Howard Donald Marlin, 88, died Monday, December 11, 2000 at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock. Mr. Marlin was born Jan.27, 1912, in Fayette, Mo., son of the late Rev. Harold D. Marlin and Esther Ann Parks Marlin. He was a graduate of Southwestern University in Texas and an Army veteran of World War II, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and recieved the Purple Heart. He taught high school for five years in Texas, was an executive for Boy Scouts of America for two years and the American Red Cross, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the Woodstock United Methodist Church, serving as head usher and president of the Methodist Men's Club. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Lankford Marlin, a son, Robert Marlin of Jerez, Mexico, a daughter, Martha Ann Checkett of Portland, Oregon; three sisters: Pauline Caffey of Abilene , Texas; Melba Anderson of Weatherford, Texas; and Ora Lee Morris of Alington, Texas; and three grandchildren. The Revs. David Palmer and Jay Ashby conducted memorial services on Friday, December 15, 2000, at Woodstock United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O.
