Clinch Lumber Co.

The Clinch Lumber Company is a small logging and sawmill operation. Their business is primarily in the harvesting and finishing of American Linden trees. This is a fast growing, tightly grained, tree, which is a good source of structural lumber* for the construction industry.

Clinch Lumber Company has its main shops in Raccoon Cove where one of its logging lines originates. It also operates a facility located on a spur off of Cumberland Southern's Bear Creek Branch at Whitfield. The logs are delivered from the two spurs to the their sawmill in Franklin using class B Shays and wood cabooses. Clinch Lumber has trackage rights over Cumberland Southern's Bear Creek Branch.

Cumberland Southern Railway serves the sawmill in Franklin and the shops in Raccoon Cove, picking up boxcars of finished lumber, and delivering supplies.
