Moira Kerr
SCOTLAND'S GIFT TO THE MUSIC WORLD

The Scots have long been aware of the talents of singer/songwriter Moira Kerr, but she is rapidly becoming known the world over. In April 1998, New York welcomed Moira for her first concert appearances in the United States. She then went on to play several venues in California. I was fortunate enough to see Moira perform in Fresno, California and came away with wonderful memories and some pretty good photographs, if I do say so myself! You can view several at the "Moira Kerr -- Up Close and Personal" link below. Moira made her Canadian debut in November, sponsored by Island Music (a distributor of Celtic audios and videos, including Moira's) and Celtic Connection. She performed in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. Moira returned to the States in late January and February 1999 and performed at Burns Nights in Massachusetts and Arizona, and sang at the Sarasota Highland Games in Florida, as well. She also recently performed in Pennsylvania and was very well received, and has already been asked back to perform again next year.

Moira made another Canadian tour in February 2000 which was set up by The Scottish Shoppe/Scot - Erin Promotions as was the November tour of 1998. Moira's new album "Time and Tide" mentioned above is now available, and it is wonderful! I've listened countless times and never tire of it. It includes some original songs as well as some traditional favorites. A fan favorite is "When the Pipers Play" from "Instruments of War" which was shown on PBS in the United States. Two other songs, "This Is My World" and "We Are Sailing," have bagpipe accompaniment. Several fans have asked about bagpipe music on Moira's songs and she aims to please! She has now recorded no fewer than 10 albums, ranging from her original "folk" emphasis to jazz, hymns, and her current unique blend of contemporary Scottish music with time-honored traditional songs. Moira has written and performed songs for the BBC television series "Where Eagles Fly" and has appeared at many prestigious venues in Scotland, including Edinburgh Castle and the Gleneagles Hotel, and is the resident entertainer at the Loch Lomond Golf Club.

As I've now "passed the torch" for the Moira Kerr Fan Club, for information you may now contact David at "Flower of Scotland". You need a RealAudio player which is available for download at RealAudio.
