To Set A Date

Brian Braddock was working on his plane when Meggan, the love of his life, came into the hanger. She walked over to the Midnight Runner.

"Brian, we need to talk," Meggan informed him.

"Okay, sweets," Brian called from inside the engine of the Midnight Runner. He turned towards Meggan and cleaned his hands on an old cloth. "What is it, Meggan?"

"We are engaged, Brian, and we have been for awhile now," Meggan began.

"Yes?" probed Brian. He was impatient to find out what was bothering the woman of his love life.

Meggan placed her hands on her hips, and spoke,"When are we going to set a date for our wedding?!?"

Brian was taken aback and whistled as if he hadn't heard her. {Great! She finally asked and now I don't have an answer!}

Meggan became angry. "BRIAN BRADDOCK, ANSWER ME! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER ME? DON'T YOU LOVE ME ANY MORE?!?" Meggan cried. She turned away with her back to Brian, folded her arms, and tried not to cry.

"Meggan," Brian replied, "the question just surprised me!" He layed his hands on her shoulders.

Meggan turned back around to face him. She waited for him to continue. She kept her arms crossed and began tapping her foot impatiently on the floor.

Brian continued, "Meggan, I love you. Always have; always will. And there is nothing that can ever change that fact!" He reached out and pulled a strand of Meggan's long, blonde hair out of her face. "I'm sorry if I let you down."

"If you love me like you say you do, Brian, then why do you keep running from making a date for our wedding?" Meggan sighed.

Brian answered sheepishly, "I guess I was just scared. Scared that something would go wrong. I'm sorry, sweets."

Meggan's blue eyes lit up with sudden, renewed understanding. "It's okay. I had the same fear, too. But our love kept me going and from running. It will do the same for you. There is no Earthly power greater than our love!" Meggan pressed her cheek against Brian's cupped hand.

"That, love of my life, is definitely a fact that no one can argue with!" Brian drew Meggan towards him and kissed her gently.

"Okay, now, let's set a date," Meggan declared.

"How's sometime in January sound, sweets?" suggested Brian.

"It sounds absolutely wonderful! How about the 24th? That's when the full moon will be!" Meggan replied happily.

"The 24th of January it is then!" Brian declared. He then swept her up in his arms and whirled her around.

"Why, Brian Braddock, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were actually happy!" Meggan pretended to be astounded by Brian's behavior, but inside, she was screaming with glee.

"I am!" Brian replied. He pulled her close to him. "Aren't you?"

"Yes, I am!" Meggan exclaimed. She kissed Brian.

"We'll tell the others at supper tonight! I know they'll be happy for us!" Brian paused to say and then began kissing Meggan like he would never stop.
