Graduation Day

I just willed it, and it happened.

I was so embarrassed.

It's never worked before...

I was just standing on the stage, stuttering through that stupid reading, and I wished for the floor to open under my feet.

And it did.

School was cool today.

Some kid discovered she was a mutant, in the middle of Graduation, by making the stage give way in the middle of her reading.

It was so funny.

She went bright red.

Oh, she wasn't hurt, just grazed, but the look on her face when she realised she was falling... Classic.

I wonder if they'll make her pay for the damage?

It's great to be free at last, although it'll be strange being at College, with none of my friends.

I guess I'll get used to it.

Carina said she'll write, she was pretty upset today about leaving.

She's going to Europe this Summer, so I won't see her much. Maybe that'll make the break easier. She'll probably send me a postcard telling me all about some great French guy she's met, and then when she gets back, it'll be, "I'm sorry, honey, but we've been growing apart for ages, you know?"

It was graduation for the seniors today.

Apparantly, the stage got trashed by some mutant, angry that she didn't get into the college she wanted. I don't know if it's true, but that's what Clarissa said, and she should know; her sister's boyfriend was sitting behind the bike-sheds, and he heard the whole thing.

That's so outrageous, I mean, why should any college accept a freak? As far as I'm concerned she'll get what she deserves.

I got promoted to first violin in the junior orchestra. That means I get to sit next to Alex now, and Lila doesn't.

Freak out, man.

That's what it feels like to be out of High School at last.

It's cool, but kinda screwy at the same time.

I kinda missed Graduation.

Jonny gave me some pot to make the day groove, but I think I fell asleep in the flower-bed. That's where Mr Swanson woke me up.

Nard said the hall imploded, but he probably just had a bad buzz.
