Since the release of their first single " Say You Do " in April , the guys have notched up two Top Twenty smashes and are on course for a third with " The right time " ( due for release in August )

Having already toured arenas with Boyzone , 911 and Louise ,the guys are now wowing audiences of their own at radio shows and live appearances up and down the country . They have also appeared on major TV shows such as Top Of The Pops and The National Lottery - and all this in the first six months !

Abroad , success continues to beckon witha three week promotional tour of South East Asia due to take place at the end of July . " We really can't wait to go" , enthuses Nick , traditionally the joker of the pack whose bedroom is completely covered in posters of Formula One cars ! " We 've done several phone interviews already and the people there sound so friendly I'm looking forward to meeting them all in person ! "

All the band agree that travelling is definitely one of the main perks of the job - although they also agree that having to get up early is one of their least favourite parts ! " Nick and James are usually the worst " , explains Micheal , the smooth - talking guitarist with dreamy looks whose past credits include modelling stints for NatWest bank and British Telecom . " We always have to allow an extra half an hour in the morning to get them out of their beds on time ! " For Micheal however , the worst aspect of the travel is having to get on and off aeroplanes as he is terrified of flying . " I always try to make sure I'm sitting near an air hostess for extra reassurance " he says , adding that one time the pilot even let him sit in the cockpit for most of the journey !

Ultra have already visited Denmark , Italy and Sweden where they played an outdoor gig in front of 10 , 000 people and now every time they go to the airport thay have an ever increasing number of fans waiting to meet them !

For James however , his number one of fan will always be his Mum !! " She 's always been into pop music " explains James , the floppy - haired singer they love to tease , " but now every time I go home our album 's playing . She really thinks we ' re the best band in the world !! "

Not that James gets much time to see his Mum as the band are so hard - working they don 't even have time for girlfriends . According to Micheal , the only picture he carries around in his wallet is that of his dog Rupert ! " He 's gorgeous and looks just like a bear " he enthuses , " What more could I want ?! " Nick 's most prized possession is his Ferrari necklace . " I made it myself " he says proudly , " from a golf ball marker and a bit of leather ! "

So what sort of thing can we expect from the band's self - titled album , due for release later this year ? " I think people who are expecting a straightforward pop album will be pleasantly surprised " says Michael . " There' s a lot of variety in the songs but that 's the great thing about pop music , you 've really got a licence to do whatever you want " . The next single " The Right Time " is an up tempo , feel - good song but " Rescue Me " is definitely more of a soulful ballad .

Do they feel positive about the future ? " Definitely " says Jon whose past achievements include organising party events and being a professional tennis coach . " We know we 've got loads more great songs and can 't wait for everybody to hear them . We feel so lucky to be doing what we ' re doing and we just want to carry on giving as much as we can . Our fans have been so supportive that they don't deserve anything but the best !! "
