May 15-16, 1999
DSA Hornblower Regatta -
at Cherry Creek Lake. All fleets (5 boat rninimum) and OOAK centerboard
boats with portsmouth numbers are welcome. Registration 9:00-9:30 a.m.
at the Marina. Captains meeting at 10:30 am with an expected yellow
flag at 11:30
July 3, 1999 DSA Firecracker Regatta -
at Union Reservoir near Longmont. All fleets (5 boat minimum) and OOAK
centerboard boats with portsmouth numbers are welcome. Register
9:00-9:30 a.m. at the reservoir. Captains meeting at 10:30 a.m. with an
expected yellow flag at 11:30 a.m.
October 2-3, 1999
DSA Frostbite Regatta -
at Cherry Creek Lake. All fleet (5 boat minimum) and OOAK centerboard
and keel boats with portsmouth or PHRF numbers are welcome. Register
from 9:00 - 9:30 at the Marina. Captains meeting at 10:30 a.m. with an
expected yellow flag at 11:30 a.m.
Weekly Series
April 1999
DSA Thaw out Series -
at Cherry Creek Lake. Members sail 8 to 16 races on three successive
Sunday afternoons for fleet point score winners. Both one design and
OOAK fleet participation. Race for fun or register and pay trophy fee
($5) at the captains meeting at the Marina at noon. Expected yellow
flag at 1:00 p.m. Specific dates are April 11, 18, and 25.
May 6 - June 24, 1999
DSA Spring Series - at Cherry Creek Lake. Members sail 16 races on
Thursday evenings for fleet point score winners. Both one design and
OOAK fleet participation. Race for fun or register and pay trophy fee
($10). Yellow flag is raised no earlier than 6:30 p.m. Plan on after
races "Buck-a-Burgers" at the Marina. Specific dates are: May 6, 13, 20
and 27; June 3, 10, 17 and 24.
July 1 - Aug 26, 1999 DSA Summer Series - at Cherry Creek Lake.
Members sail 18 races on Thursday evenings for fleet point score
winners. Both one design and OOAK fleet participation. Race for fun or
register and pay trophy fee ($10). Yellow flag is raised no earlier
than 6:30 pm. Plan on after races "Buck-a-Burgers" at the Marina.
Specific dates: July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 August 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Wyoming Governor's Cup Alcova Reservoir , WY Casper Boat Club. Southwest
of Casper, WY, on State Highway 220. Just look for the reservoir
entrance just up the hill from downtown Alcova , follow signs to the
boat club. The Casper Boat Club is a honest to goodness yacht club with
bar, restaurant, slips, sea walls, docks, beach/swimming area, great
camping sites and hot showers. Don't miss this one!
July 17 and 18, 1999
Aspen Open Thirty First Annual Aspen Open Regatta . The Aspen Yacht Club
(AYC) is
located Ruedi Reservoir is about 18 miles up the Frying Pan River Road
from the town of Basalt, Colorado. It is also about 45 minutes from the
town of Aspen and about 40 minutes from Glenwood Springs where the hot
springs pool is located.
The lake is about five miles long and 1/2 - 3/4 mile wide. Water
temperature is about 65 degrees. The wind usually starts around 11:00 am
it ranges from light to medium and medium-plus later in the afternoon.
The Party and Dinner Saturday evening is not to be missed. Probably the
best Saturday night to be had all racing season.
The AYC facilities include portable toilets, small club house with wood
stove, non-potable running water, lawn camping area, almost flat RV
areas (no hook-ups), sand volleyball court, great spectator area out on
"the point" and large camp fire area where many songs are sung and lies
are told. The club also has sandy beach, great launch ramp, rigging
docks and sea walls to tie up to and some slips may be available.
No Pets
No pets allowed thank you. This is a rule of the Aspen Yacht Club and it
is also in our forest service lease.
Directions to Ruedi Reservoir:
Interstate 70 to Glenwood Springs/Aspen exit. Take Colorado 82 to
Basalt and follow signs to Ruedi Reservoir. Take Business Loop (left)
to Basalt, at 4-way stop in Basalt, make a left onto Midland Avenue.
Follow this (about 2 blocks) and it turns into Frying Pan Road. Go 18
miles and 50 yards past the mile marker is a red gate and sign
indicating the entrance to AYC.
September 4, 5 and 6, 1999
Nebraska Governor's Cup, Lake McConaughy near Ogallala, Nebraska
Also The Colorado Governor's Cup the end of September or the first of
October. Location yet to be announced.
