European tour

A UK/European tour kicked off in London after the end of the US tour. No NIN, but instead Morrissey co-headlined on the UK leg up until the Aberdeen show, whereupon Morrissey "fell sick", and other local support acts took over.

What?

From the pen of Philip Obbard comes this report of the set list at Hartford, Connecticut on the opening show of the tour:

1.Subterraneans (played by Nine Inch Nails while Bowie intoned lyrics from Scary Monsters over the top).
2.Scary Monsters (duet with NIN)
3.Reptile (duet with NIN)
4.Hallo Spaceboy (duet with NIN)
5.Hurt (duet with NIN)

NIN leaves the stage

6.Voyeur of Utter Destruction (as Beauty)
7.The Heart's Filthy Lesson
8.Breaking Glass
9.I'm Deranged
10.A Small Plot Of Land
11.Joe The Lion
12.I Have Not Been To Oxford Town
13.Outside
14.We Prick You
15.Jump They Say
16.Andy Warhol
17.The Man Who Sold The World
18.Teenage Wildlife
19.My Death
20.Nite Flights

On some of the other gigs the songs have been mixed and matched a bit, for example dropping My Death, Teenage Wildlife, and adding Under Pressure (at Cleveland) and Look Back In Anger, What In The World (at Chicago). At a couple of the last shows on the tour, Strangers When We Meet was also added (in preparation for its upcoming single release).

(Thanks to Darla Stumph for this information.)

Who?

Band members were

David Bowie (vocals and sax)
Reeves Gabrels (guitar)
Carlos Alomar (guitar)
Gail-Ann Dorsey (bass)
Mike Garson (keyboards)
Zachary Alford (drums)
Peter Schwartz (keyboards)
George Simms (backing vocals)

Around the time of the start of the Japanese tour, Alomar, Schwartz and Simms were dropped from the band lineup.

(Thanks a lot to Evan Torrie - I take a lot of the information here on Teenage Wildlife)

(Evan originally thanked Russ Dean, Paul Kinder and The Voyeur for providing all the dates and setlists.)
