GATES
BEDELL/GATES/RHODES/WOODMAN families. Interested in these families from the Ann Arbor/Dixboro area. David L. GATES (1812-1895) m. Amanda BEDELL (1814-1898) in 1834. I have a undated picture of them taken by Lewis Gibson, photographer, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Mich. I have some info on Amanda's family, but nothing on David L. GATES. One of their children--Helen GATES (1837-1902) married George H. RHODES (1825-1903) in Ann Arbor or Dixboro, 1868. George was from a long line of RHODES from MA and CT. Would like some more info to fill in the blanks with the RHODES family. Their son and my great-grandfather, Gilbert Cyrus RHODES (1868-1901)(grandfather) married Clara WOODMAN in Ann Arbor, 1894. I have lots of pictures/info of Gilbert Cyrus GATES, but know nothing about Clara, except she was from a long line of WOODMANs from Oyster Bay, NH.

GILBERT
Looking for information on the Bridgewater Township area starting
about 1830 until 1842. Families of interest are the GILBERT and the
DOUGLASS families. John DOUGLASS purchased land in Sec 16. He is the
eldest brother of my GGGrandfather Edwin DOUGLASS. I know that
he settled there with his Mother - Anna, brother - Edwin, sisters -
Ellen, Emily, Elvira. Ellen married Harvey GILBERT in 1835. Another
sister, Jane, is already married to Jacob GILBERT. There is also
another sister, Ruth, who could also be married to a GILBERT but
have yet to find any thing on her or an older sister, Eliza Ann.
John marries a Huldah NEWMAN but don't know when, where or if they had children. The DOUGLASS family and Jacob GILBERT's family move on to McHenry County, Illinois, about 1842. Jacob's brothers, Harvey GILBERT and Ephriam GILBERT move on to California to dig gold, Jacob GILBERT follows in 1853. Jacob's parents, Thomas and Esther GILBERT, remain in Washtenaw County until their death. Who else stayed behind? Any information on these two families is appreciated. Are there any remaining decendants? Also, looking for a copy of "Landsmen of Washtenaw County" to purchase. Email me or write to: Rosemary Alewine; 2520 Tilden Ave.; Delavan, WI 53115 Thank You!

KENT
I am looking for information about the family of Daniel KENT.
Daniel was the son of Jacob KENT, his mother is unknown. Daniel
was born about 1805 in Ohio. He was married to Martha LAMOURE.
They had the following children, Angeline (abt 1834-), William
(1835-26 Apr 1914), Rozaltha (1836-15 Nov 1907), Malvina
(abt 1838-1913), John (abt 1840-), Edwin (abt 1844-1 Jun 1905),
Artemesia (abt 1847-). Daniel died 13 Aug 1896 at the age of 91
in Washtenaw Co., MI. The last census information I have for both
Daniel and Jacob KENT show them in Freedom Township. Daniel was
born in Dayton, Ohio, but grew to manhood in Canada. Daniel and
his family came to Washtenaw County, Michigan in July of 1832.
In 1834, Daniel entered some land near Lodi twp on the old "Chicago
Turnpike" road. He built a tavern, and as immigration was very
heavey for a few years, business prospered, and he gained
quite a competency from his farm and tavern. He also kept a
tavern in Jackson County at a later date. Any information on
this family would be appreciated. I also have a web page devoted

LOVEJOY
I am interested in finding someone who may have descended from or who
has knowledge of the Palmer & Ester (BUTLER) LOVEJOY family that lived
in or near Pittsfield Twp, Washtenaw Co.,MI. I want to find the name of Palmer LOVEJOY's father.
I believe Palmer and Ester (BUTLER) LOVEJOY had at least 12 children:
Silas, born c1791, died 7 Apr 1877, married Ann Nichols PALMER, born 8 Jan 1798, died 29 Apr 1841 in Pittsfield, married Dorothy DAVENPORT on 31 Dec 1818; and Mary who married Eli ROSE. The other 9 children were William, Henry, Daniel, Harvey, Jerusha, Maria, Charlotte, Julia, Stephen.
I descend from the Palmer & Patience (BEEBE) LOVEJOY family that
lived in near Rankin, Mundy Twp., Genesee County, MI. Palmer & Patience were born ca. 1790. I believe my Palmer LOVEJOY's father was Justus LOVEJOY of Canaan, NY.
I'd like to establish the relationship, if any, between the LOVEJOYs
of Pittsfield Twp. Washtenaw Co, MI, Rankin, MI, & Byron, MI. I'm trying to sort out the Michigan LOVEJOYs and would appreciate any help or direction you can give me.
