One of my favorite subjects for painting is a stormy sky. Below are three examples: "Desert Storm" (30" X 40", acrylic), mainly a cloud composition with a hint of desert landscape at the bottom (the landscape has red in it that does not show up in the photograph); "Sutherland's Well House" (18" X 24", alkyd oil), which features a local landmark that is now gone; and "Stormy Night at Rhyolite" (24" X 36", alkyd over acrylic underpainting), in which I tried to capture what it is like to be in the ghost town at night in a soaking rain and thunderstorm. "Sutherland's Well House" is still available for sale. The other two are sold.
