The first image is a watercolor sketch I did in remembrance of my high school art teacher, Willard Kowallis, who passed away in June of 1998. I never knew a gentler spirit or a purer heart. He touched my life deeply, as he did many others.

The center photograph is of some colorful weeds (stork bill or crane bill) in my yard just after a rain. They were tiny, and no one seemed to notice them but me.

The bottom image is of a red-tail hawk with the Funeral Mountains bordering Death Valley in the distance. It is a double exposure in the darkroom. I photographed the hawk on a different day that the sunset. I call the image "Red Tail in the Sunset." Forgive the puny pun.
