Native American Advice For This Journey of Life

Before you lies a journey we all must travel. A journey whose length is not as important as the footprints you will leave behind for others to follow. A journey that has many paths, and the one that you choose will decide what course your life will take.

You can choose the easy and well-trodden road, or you can venture down the one rarely traveled. Either way, you have the ability to make an impact upon this world, So long as you follow the ways of your own heart, not the desires of others.

Whatever road you choose to walk, let it show that a good and brave person passed this way. One who never sacrificed convictions for a place in the sun or the easy gain; but one who kept to the true and right path.

And let it also show that you did not count your wealth in riches; but in how you walk this earth with humility in your heart, Let the footprints that you made in this life show that you walked in the footsteps of love.

But... the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will send him into a fit of temper.

He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.

Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, "The one I feed.
