II.J. MARGARET FOX BIRD (d/o George & Christena Fox)

II.J. MARGARET CATHERINE FOX
B: 16 Mar 1822 Sevier County, Tennessee
M: Henry Bird (22 Mar 1820-25 Sep 1909)
D: 29 Nov 1866 Benton Co, MO - Feaster Bird Cemetery

Margaret was the sixth daughter of George and Christena Fox. She married
Henry Bird, son of Lewis Bird. According to family tradition, they left Sevier
County in 1856 by ox team and covered wagon for Missouri. Arriving in
Jefferson City, they cut cord wood for a living before settling further south in
Benton County near the Benton, Hickory and St. Clair County lines.
Margaret died at age 44 and Henry married Sarah Hines, a widow, who
preceded him in death.

Margaret was not among the children of George and Christena named in
N.G. T. Fox’s 1924 history of the Fox family. She is however named as a
Fox in Henry’s obituary and the names of their children and Margaret’s age
clearly prove that she was a daughter of George and Christena. Margaret is
sometimes referred to as Margaret Caterine.

1850 Sevier County, Tennessee Census:
