hands up

Ladies and gentlemen: Dishwalla. Well what else can I say? From the very first time I heard Counting Blue Cars and every time after that, I've been in love with this band. From JR Richards' polically incorrect lyrics, to George Pergast's wild explosions on the drums, to the way Scot Alexander and Rodney Browning bring it all together with the bass and electric guitars. The band has finally recieved some long overdue attention. Almost six years ago, Dishwalla was born in J.R. Richards' garage, which Rodney Browning describes as, "...the birthplace of everything that is Dishwalla..." Everything about about Dishwalla has it's own independance from the outside world. From those black and white shoes that J.R. seems to have an obsession with, to the way they play each song and introduce themselves onstage. Not like any normal band with "I'm JR, that's Scot, Rodney, and George" but JR says "I'm Dishwalla." Something I don't exactally understand, but since Dishwalla has become my favorite band, I've learned to adjust to a lot of things pretaining to the way they conduct themselves. And the way the ussually conduct themselves, --like four hyper-active seven-year-olds. J.R. likes to jump onto the drums, Rodney likes to stick his tongue out at people, Scot just drifts into a zone when he's playing bass (sometimes I get kind of worried for him when J.R. gets a little dangerous) and George,... we don't know about George, he's the quiet one (and you believe that?).

Quotes
dishwalla line
"...Musicians are the skinniest, scrawnist, unhealthiest bunch of people on the planet, and we're in training and we're going to kick all their f*cking asses..." --George Pendergast, Dishwalla

"...Some of the best stuff we play is completly on accident, we've got no idea what we're doing, that's why we're trying to unlearn everything we've ever learned, so we can make more mistakes and get better, people don't learn from success, they learn from failure and trial..." --Rodney Browning, Dishwalla

"...Well, if it were me, I'd be sucking her toes, man..."--JR Richards, Dishwalla

"...Everything has either a good or bad outcome but you can't change that outcome. If it's going to be bad, it is, if it's going to be good, it is. When people go f***ing around with it and fate beats the s*it out of them, they wonder why. That's why I think no one could stop us once we got on a roll with 'Blue Cars'. Fate was diggin' the song, man..." --George Pendergast, Dishwalla

"...I think that the great thing about kids is, like, when you're born, you've got the abilty to do anything, to learn anything and the sad part is, when you grow up you begin to lose that. Some of the best things I ever played were on my piano when I was five-years-old and as I grew up, sorta', I started going to college, I don't know, you just learn that it has to be a certain way and there's just no questioning it. Personally, I think it just ruins the entire creative out-put..." --JR Richards, Dishwalla
