NGDB-Live at The Wolf Den-Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, CT on May 14, 1998.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band rolled into Connecticut tonight and wowwed the crowd of country-rock fans that had gathered at the Wolf Den. They played the hits that everyone expected to hear as well as several new songs from an as-yet-unreleased project. The band's record company recently folded so they're in the process of shopping for a new deal.

Classic Dirt Band songs were given a fresh feeling with extended instrumental segments and humorous introductions about what inspired their writings. "Fishin' In The Dark," "Mr. Bojangles," "Stand A Little Rain," "Dance Little Jean," and "Workin' Man" were all performed to their fullest.

The NGDB is special because it's comprised of four very talented individuals. All the members write and sing in addition to their instrumental duties. Jimmie Fadden was the particular standout tonight as he amazed the crowd with his drums and harmonica playing (Yes, he plays them both at the same time!).Jeff Hanna and Jimmy Ibbotson both added some mean country pickin' and their great sense of humor to the mix. Bob Carpenter served as the band's anchor on keyboards and vocals (Ibbotson also joked about him being the only member who can program the VCR.).

A special note should also be made about the sound. It was excellent tonight! Thanks to the sound crew for a job well done.

The band came out after the show to meet the fans, sign autographs, and chat. NGDB fans had a great time tonight and here's hoping for a quick return in the future.
