LARRY'S WEB SITES

Here I am at the City of Refuge on the Island of Hawaii in June 2005. Mark Twain sat on this rock in 1867. I am sure it was no softer for him. (He wrote about it in his book, "Roughing It.")
I built my first web site in 1998 and building them has been very rewarding. But, perhaps the most rewarding part of this whole odyssey of building web sites on subjects that I find fascinating has been the great e-mails that I have received. I have heard from people that I knew decades ago. I have heard from perfect strangers who have turned out to be great friends. I am always surprised at the emotions that some of my sites bring out. I have been able to help some of these folks find old friends and information about subjects that truly were important to them. I even received an e-mail from a member of one of my all time favorite rock bands - "The Lovin' Spoonful". In July of 2007, Steve Boone of that group gave me one of the finest compliments that I have ever received about one of my web sites.
I seem to keep coming up with new ideas for new sites. I guess that as long as I keep getting good comments and interesting e-mails from you all (and I do LOVE to hear from you) I will keep producing them. Click on 'em and enjoy! Let me know what you think!
Strangely, here is another photo of me sitting on rocks! They were no softer. This time it's at Red Rock Canyon, just west of Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2008.

SOME MIGHT SAY I LIVE IN THE PAST....
April 1972
But I don't! I have a great present and, hopefully, a bright future. But I DO APPRECIATE the past and know that it is important. We Americans must remember the past and learn from it. My experiences in life have taught me a lot. My websites reflect my concerns on a lot of different topics; be they serious or silly. I hope at least some of my sites will bring you something you can learn from - or at least have fun with!
ACKNOWLEDGMENT!
It's time to give credit where credit is due. I would not be able to bring all of the photos on my web pages to you without the great assistance of Scott Roberts, my oldest friend. And I do want to stress OLD! Without his technical assistance regarding the photos I would only have words to tell you about the great places I have seen. Thanks Scotty!
SOME VERY NICE E-MAILS!
Dear Larry,
Just came across your website(s) today and spent a few
enjoyable hours reading about many of your different
and interesting topics. You are like California’s
internet version of the Discovery Channel. I hope you
continue to add pages that are as interesting and fun
to read as the ones you already have.
Next time I am in Northern Cali I look forward to
visiting many of the places I read about on your
pages. I love that kind of stuff. I also learned
more about places closer to home like “dead man’s
curve."
From one Californian who loves stories
and information about interesting places and people
from the past to another, I want to thank you for the
work you put into your websites, and look forward to
more in the future.

Dear Larry,
I surfed to the google page and did a search for 2005 Camaro, I am going to get me a Camaro like yours. Well, what I found was your site. And I am glad I did, I have read your entire Camaro page, and the page "The Oroville U-2 Spy Plane Crash". I enjoyed that page and learned lots, I feel sorry for the girl who was in the wrong place,, that day.. Bless her soul..
I can tell you and I have passion for Camaro's, and The music you listen to,, I could listen for hours and enjoy myself..
Awesome Web site. Tomorrow, I have a few things to do, But will return to this laptop, and look at your other sites..

Dear Larry,
I grew up in Oroville. I've spent the last 9 years in the military (sadly,I haven't been back to visit Oroville since the night I graduated High School). I love reading the stories on your site. they bring back many fond memories of the area.
I remember my father taking me to the old train tunnel, and hiking up to the "O" on the side of Table Mt. I remember the day the U2 crashed in '96. We lived West of there on Nelson, just past the school. My father called me outside (to put me to work I assumed). He pointed out the smoke to me. I was shocked to think a fire was burning just down the road. I saw the parachute coming down, and pointed out that it must have been an airplane crash. He jumped in the car to head down there. He wouldn't let me go. He says he got there before the pilot hit the ground.
To sum things up, I look forward to reading more of your stories and seeing pictures of the area (both new and old)
Thanks a million,
