More about me

When I left home to come to America I was taking a big step. I knew at the time that it would not be easy. It was even more difficult than I thought. Missing my family, friends and way of life. I left two brothers and a sister. Also my mother. My oldest brother is on active duty in the Royal Marines. I am quite proud of him! He looks so handsome in his uniform. His name is Liam and he is stationed aboard a Royal Navy ship. I get postcards from all the places his ship goes. Lots of fun.

My younger brother works on an oil rig in the North Sea. It is owned by BP. He is a shift supervisor. According to him there is nothing finer than working on the rig. It sounds quite horrible to me. I know North Sea weather and would not want to be in too much of it. He seems to like it. My sister works in a cannery. Canning salmon. Salmon is a big export product in Scotland. We are quite famous for the quality of fish we produce.

My mother is living in a care home. It is quite expensive. And since she has no health insurance, my brothers and I pay for it. This is one of the reasons I choose to dance. I need the money it generates to help keep my mother comfortable. She has cancer and needs a lot of help and care. It is sad. And it is hard for me. But family sticks together and I do all I can to help.

More Heather Stuff!

Well hello again. Nice to see you are still around. So, you want to know more about me. I am flattered! As I said on page one, I am 25 years old and I am from Scotland. I was born in a small town, a village really. A lot like the one pictured at the left. When I was small we moved to Inverness. As you can see, I come from small places. Everyone knows each other and there are no strangers. Moving to America was a big shock for me. I found out quickly that the people here are very different.

I currently live in a little city near where I go to school. I am living with another student. Her and I share rent and expenses. It has actually worked out pretty well. Sometimes friendships can die is such circumstances. Ours has grown and become deeper. It is nice to know that some things last. And even grow stronger under strain.
